Transformer installed close to ground level in Magam area poses threat to people

Kupwara, April 8: Transformer installed close to ground level in the Magam area near the Police Station is posing a grave threat to the lives of the people.

The people of the area said that the concerned department has failed to take necessary action to rectify the placement.

“The transformer, with a capacity of 100 KV is located at a mere 2 feet above the ground level. This poses a significant safety risk to the general public, particularly students who pass by the area,” Shiekh Jamsheed, a local social activist, told Greater Kashmir.

“The issue was raised during a Public Darbar held at Town Hall Handwara. Regrettably, no action has been taken by the PDD department so far in this regard,” he added.

The residents have sought immediate intervention of Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara Aziz Ahmad Rather in this regard so that any possible untoward incident may be thwarted.
