Srinagar, Oct 25: A comprehensive training programme on ‘best agricultural practices in apple cultivation’ was organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Bandipora in collaboration with the Department of Horticulture, Bandipora.

A statement of KVK Bandipora issued here said that the event saw active participation from farmers across the Sumbal and Hajin blocks of the district.

Head of KVK Bandipora, Tariq Sultan inaugurated the session and provided a detailed overview of the Kendra’s initiatives aimed at improving the agricultural and horticultural landscape in Bandipora.

He emphasised the importance of adopting modern cultivation techniques to enhance apple productivity and quality, thus contributing to the economic upliftment of the farmers.

A scientist at KVK Bandipora, Shabeer Ahmad Ganai delivered a detailed presentation on the latest best practices in apple cultivation, covering critical areas such as orchard management, disease control, pruning, grafting techniques, and post-harvest handling.

His session highlighted the importance of scientific interventions in improving apple yield and maintaining the high-quality standards necessary for competitive marketability.

A scientist at KVK Bandipora, Tahir Saleem also interacted with the participants, addressing their queries and providing practical insights into soil health management and fertilisation techniques.

He underscored the role of KVK in offering continuous support and guidance to the farming community in adopting sustainable and profitable agricultural practices.

The farmers appreciated the valuable knowledge shared by the experts.
