Kargil, Nov 30: A six day training program for artisans was held at NIELT Kargil on Thursday.
Chairman/Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon inaugurated the training programme. The training program will train youth in entrepreneurship, digital marketing, e-commerce, packaging, digital photography and ICT. During the inaugural session Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Srikant Suse, Councilor Baroo Advocate Khadim Hussain, Councilor Yourbaltak Manzoor ul Hussain, District Superintendent Handloom Arifa Iqbal Lone, Director NIELIT Ladakh Phuncock Taldon, besides other concerned officers were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon congratulated NIELIT Kargil for organising the training session for the artisans of Kargil. He also hailed the efforts of NIELIT Kargil for timely organising training sessions in various field for the students. CEC Kargil said skill development in various fields is the only way to get a job in today’s competitive world. He advised artisans to take maximum benefit of the program. Dr Jaffer said students will also get the benefit of the certification from such a prestigious government-recognized institution which will help them in various government sector jobs.
CEC Kargil said that the products of artisans will be kept in hotels, restaurants and tourist destinations to grab the attention and to maximize the outreach of the product outside the Kargil. He also addressed the issues raised by the students for transportation facility and development of approach road to NIELIT. He assured early redressal of the same.
On the occasion, DC Kargil advised Director NIELIT Ladakh to provide Government e-Marketplace (or e-Marketplace) (GeM) training to the artisans which will enable them to put their products on GeM portal which will have access to consumers outside Ladakh as well. DC Kargil said along with government marketing sites like GeM, artisans should also know the importance of marketing of products in various e-commerce platforms like Amazon Flipkart etc. DC Kargil also advised artisans to register themselves in PM Viswakarma Yojana which aims at providing support to small business owners, with a special focus on traditional artisans, and craft people.
