Training prog begins at Police Academy Udhampur
Jammu, Oct 22: A three-day training programme on social defence issues began at SK Police Academy, Udhampur, a press release said.
The programme was organised in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India) . The programme is attended by 40 officers and officials from the J&K Police.
The course aims to enhance the quality of services provided to vulnerable groups requiring specialised legal and social care. It focuses on equipping participants with knowledge of social issues, relevant legal frameworks, and practical field exposure while fostering innovation in social defence practices, the press release added.
The inaugural session was attended by Rajinder Kumar Gupta, IPS, SSP, and Deputy Director of SKPA, who served as the chief guest. In his address, Gupta welcomed the participants on behalf of the Director SKPA and discussed critical social defence topics such as transgender rights, beggary, drug abuse, and elderly care. He emphasized the vital role of police personnel in promoting justice, ensuring citizen well-being, and contributing to a safer, more inclusive society.
The programme is coordinated by Abdul Momin, Inspector, with assistance from SI Abdul Rashid of SKPA.
