Train to Kashmir | New GRP administrative units created; track jurisdictions notified

Jammu, June 25:  J&K government has created new administrative units of the Government Railway Police (GRP) and also notified the track jurisdiction of all GRP units, from Jammu to Baramulla, ahead of commencement of regular train service from Katra to Banihal.

As per an order issued by Principal Secretary Home, Chandraker Bharti, sanction has been accorded to establishment of the office of Additional SP GRP, Sangaldan with headquarters at Sangaldan, district Ramban; the office of SDPO GRP, Sangaldan and the office of SDPO GRP, Banihal in district Ramban.

Besides, sanction has also been accorded to the creation of eight GRP units viz., Police Station GRP Sawlakote; Police Station GRP Sangaldan; Police Station GRP Banihal; Police Station GRP Reasi; Police Post GRP Sumber; Police Post GRP Dugga; Police Post GRP Kheri and Police Post GRP Bakkal.

Establishment of Zonal Signal Centre has also been sanctioned at Katra, district Reasi.

In supersession of the previous notifications issued on the subject, the jurisdiction of all GRP units has also been notified.
