Traffic to remain suspended on NH for 6 hours on Friday, Saturday nights

Ramban, Dec 20: Vehicular traffic on the Srinagar Jammu National Highway will remain suspended for six hours on Friday and Saturday nights between Nashri and Banihal in Ramban district.

Officials said that the traffic would remain suspended for undertaking some construction works by NHAI companies engaged in four-lane project works between Nashri and Banihal stretch.

Traffic authorities said, “To ensure the safety of the general populace, travellers, and drivers, NHAI has been directed by the District Magistrate Ramban vide order no-ADMR16745-84 issued on Wednesday for launching of the girders at MNB 19 and installation of ventilation and jet fans in Tunnel T-5, hence the traffic shall remain suspended between Nashri and Banihal tunnels on intervening nights of Friday and
Saturday and Saturday and Sunday for six hours from (12 am to 6 am).”

Officials said that District Magistrate Ramban issued an order after his office received a communication from Project Director NHAI, PIU Ramban vide No. NHAI/PIU-Ramban/2023-24/11021/9384, dated December 20, 2023 seeking halting of traffic on NH-44 for launching of Girder at MNB 19 and installation of ventilation and jet fans in Tunnel 5 in Ramban district.
