Traffic suspended on Sgr-Jmu NH
Ramban, Nov 19: The traffic movement on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was suspended after a portion of the road caved in and created a bottleneck at the Kishtwar Pattar area between Ramsu and Banihal.
Traffic authorities said that both sides of traffic was halted at Kishtwar Pattar, Banihal on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after a portion of the road was damaged.
They said men and machinery of the concerned road maintenance agency National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) were summoned to repair the road.
People were advised not to undertake the journey on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway without confirming the status of the road,
On Sunday morning traffic was disrupted due to the intermittent triggering of shooting stones in the Sherbibi area.
Due to the blockade at Kishtwari Pattar, hundreds of vehicles were stopped at different locations between Ramban and Banihal.
Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police, National Highway, Banihal, Ashgar Malik told Greater Kashmir that men and machinery were on the job to repair the damaged portion of the road stretch at Kishtwari Pattar.
An official of NHAI said that four heavy earth-movers were pressed into service for the excavation of hillock for developing a two-lane road at Kishtwari Pattar where a portion of the road caved in Sunday evening.
