Traffic restored on Srinagar-Leh highway after snow clearance by BRO

Ganderbal, Jan 17: The traffic movement on Zojila pass axis along Srinagar-Leh highway was restored on Saturday after two days of road closure due to recent snowfall in the area.

The border roads organisation (BRO) started the snow clearance work on the Zojilla pass along Srinagar Lehhighway on Saturday morning with improvement in weather, following the fresh snowfall.

An official said that the machinery was pressed into work for snow clearance on the Zojilla pass which experiences about 8-10 inch of snow on Friday.

The road was closed as a precautionary measure and the road clearance work was started early Saturday morning with the improvement in weather.

An official said that after the road was cleared the traffic movement was restored on the highway from Kargil side. The authorities have urged the drivers to take precautions while travelling on the road.

Meanwhile, as per the traffic police advisory after getting green signal from BRO traffic from Sonamarg side towards Kargil will be allowed on Sunday.
