Traffic police to use drones, CCTV surveillance on Sgr-Jmu NH: DIG Traffic Jammu
Ramban, June 20: For making the Amarnath Yatra safe, smooth and hassle-free, the Traffic Police will use drones, CCTV, surveillance and other modern gadgets on the Yatra route besides reinforcement of cops on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
This was revealed by the DIG, Traffic, Jammu, Zone, Dr Mohammed Haseeb Mughal at a press conference in Ramban on Thursday.
The SSP, Traffic National Highway (NH), Ramban , Rohit Baskotra and DSP, Traffic, Udhampur, Jitender Singh were also present. He said that besides the steps taken every year some more steps will be taken to make Yatra better while simultaneously mitigating the inconvenience of the public.
He said that out of the worst 19 bottlenecks 16 have been rectified and repair work on damaged Dhalwas, Mehad, Maggerkote and Panthial has been going on speedily. The ROP will be strengthened and machines will be placed at vulnerable spots on highway to meet any exigency.
More traffic booths will be set up along the highway for better traffic management. He also informed that during past five months the Traffic Police National Highway under its jurisdiction (from Salora Udhampur to Banihal and Reasi,Doda and Kishtwar districts) has booked 40,000 traffic rule violators, collected a total fine of Rs four crore besides seizing 550 vehicles for different violations.
