Traffic Police Rural warn against riding two-wheelers without helmets

Ganderbal, Dec 11: Traffic Police have warned of strict action against those found riding two-wheelers without valid documents and helmets.

Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic, Rural Kashmir, Ravinderpal Singh said it has been noticed that the many people, mostly youngsters, ride two-wheelers as a mode of transportation and violate various rules of Motor Vehicles Act.

SSP said that the parents are requested not to allow the school children to drive without helmets, driving licenses and other valid documents.

SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir said that they have started a drive against violators, particularly triple riders, stunt bikers and driving by minors, which are three big challenges before Traffic Police at the moment.

SSP Traffic said that in the recent past the traffic officials booked hundreds of violators, who were flouting the rules.

SSP said that to ensure the safety of motorists and pedestrians, the Traffic Police shall take stringent actions against incidents of rash driving and other such traffic violations.

“The two-wheeler riders are advised to wear helmets and avoid triple riding, besides not to indulge in reckless, dangerous, and zig-zag driving,” SSP said.

SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir said that crackdown against stunt riding and other traffic violations will be stepped up and that the offenders, who put others’ lives in danger in addition to their own, will be taken to task.

He said besides ignoring traffic rules, underage drivers also drive recklessly on roads, endangering theirs as well as other road users’ lives.

“We will take swift action against underage driving and those without driving licenses and the cops would also be summoning parents for counseling,” he added.

SSP also cautioned parents against buying a two-wheeler for their minor children and urged them to keep a close eye on their wards so as to save their lives and that of others and also urged motorists to cooperate and follow the traffic rules and regulations.

“All failing to abide by not following the traffic rules will be booked as per the provisions of Motor Vehicle Act,” he said.

“My humble request and advise to parents is not to give the two wheelers and four wheelers to their kids who don’t possess the valid DL tests and even the parents will be booked under these provisions and put behind the bars. We will act tough against the violators and to reduce the incidents of accidents and fatalities all the people in the society have to follow these advices and traffic rules and regulations to save the precious human lives.”

Meanwhile the Traffic Police Rural on Monday carried out a drive at different places including Ganderbal and Budgam areas to check traffic violations particularly two-wheeler riders travelling without helmets and valid documents.
