Srinagar, Dec 27: Authorities at Traffic Police Department have placed Sub Inspector Gul Sheraz, Sector Officer Traffic Mughal Road in Poonch, under suspension for alleged misuse of an official vehicle to create a social media reel.

An official told GNS that the officer used an official Innova Crysta interceptor vehicle for the video, which later went viral on social media platforms. "The footage reportedly showed the officer protruding from the fully opened front door of the moving vehicle while it was being driven on the snow laden and slippery Mughal Road near Pir Ki Gali," said the official.

The incident, the official said, drew criticism and raised concerns over road safety and professional conduct, particularly in view of the hazardous weather and road conditions in the area.

"Following the suspension, Assistant Sub Inspector Anil Kumar has been deployed as the new Sector Officer Traffic on Mughal Road."

"A departmental enquiry into the incident has been ordered by the Senior Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Jammu and entrusted to the Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic Rajouri Poonch," said the official, adding, the suspended officer has been directed to report to Traffic Police Lines Rural Jammu with immediate effect.

SSP Traffic Rural Jammu Farooq Qaiser in the meantime said there is zero tolerance for violations of the Motor Vehicles Act or traffic safety norms.

He said strict action will be taken against anyone, including traffic personnel, found endangering public safety on roads.
