Traffic over Kulangam bridge suspended
Kupwara, Oct 2: The authorities on Wednesday ordered the suspension of vehicular movement over the Kulangam bridge in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
The move was taken after the approach road caved in following which the Border Roads Organisation (BRO)’s Project Beacon authorities have been asked to carry out the necessary repairs.
The bridge is considered to be vital as it connects Handwara to district headquarters Kupwara and Sopore.
Tehsildar Handwara Zeeshan Khan in an order said that the bridge has been closed for all types of vehicular movement for a week from October 3, 2024.
To facilitate the movement, the authorities have chalked a separate route plan for those intending to move in or out of Handwara.
As per the plan, the traffic from Kupwara to Baramulla will take the route from Vodhpora via Waripora Goniopora-Talri Bridge towards Main Chowk Handwara and then towards Baramulla road.
The traffic from Baramulla to Kupwara will take the route from Chotipora towards Vodhpora bridge via Main Chowk Handwara, then Waripora Gonipora and then onwards Vodhpora bridge.
The people have been asked to cooperate with the authorities in the larger interest.
