Traffic jamming becomes new nuisance on highway near Rajouri town

Rajouri, June 25: Traffic jamming has become a new nuisance on Jammu- Rajouri- Poonch highway near Rajouri town.

The jamming is occurring at the site of laying of water passage tubes (culverts) near Rajouri town. The people are calling for proper traffic regulation to ease the congestion and ensure free flow of vehicles. Locals said that in the ongoing work of highway upgradition, the concerned execution agency is laying water passage tubes at many places including at Phalyana, Panj Peer and Alpha Gate areas resulting severe traffic congestion.

They said that due to no steps for regulation of traffic at the site, severe traffic congestion is putting people in trouble and traffic jams have become a routine.

"We have to remain stuck in jams for hours and this has been a routine since days now," said Rakesh Sharma who added that even ambulances, vehicles of forces remain stuck. Yogesh Sasan while recounting the trouble stated to have remained stuck for more than two hours in jam on Tuesday afternoon. They all appealed the traffic authorities to take steps for hassle free movement of vehicles and to ensure that proper traffic regulation measures are taken.
