Traffic disrupted on Srinagar-Jammu NH
Ramban, Feb 29: Vehicular traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was disrupted due to shooting stones near Trishul Morh and road repair work at Dalwass on Thursday.
Officials said that earlier traffic movement was disrupted on Wednesday night due to shooting stones near Mehar Bridge.
“During the day, due to minor road repair work at Dalwass, vehicular traffic was stopped for two and a half hours, at around 2:30 pm. Traffic movement was restored after completion of road repair work at 4 pm,” they said.
“In the morning, intermittent tumbling of shooting stones from hillocks at Trishul Morh area of Ramban disrupted the free flow of traffic,” officials said.
Due to the blockade of the road at Dalwass, hundreds of Kashmir-bound passenger vehicles and load carriers remained stranded in long queues between Dalwass and Chenani in Udhampur.
Traffic authorities said, “Traffic is moving towards Kashmir at a slow pace due to the single lane road stretch at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Trishul Morh, Hingni, Ramsu, Kishtwari Pathar, Gangroo and some other places between Nashri and Banihal sector of the highway.”
However, they advised commuters and vehicle operators not to undertake journeys on the highway without confirming the status of the road from the concerned traffic units in Srinagar, Jammu, Udhampur and Ramban on Friday morning.
