Traffic disrupted on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway
Ramban, Aug 17: The movement of traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was disrupted for 2 hours and 10 minutes due to mudslide clearance work at Dalwass on Saturday.
Traffic officials said following a brief spell of rain on Saturday morning, a mudslide occurred at Dalwass, due to which vehicles were halted for some time and a mudslide clearance operation was carried out.
They said that the mudslides that hit the road narrowed the road stretch and traffic was halted for 2 hours and 10 minutes for road clearance operation.
After slide clearance works at Dalwass, traffic on both sides resumed on Saturday afternoon, the traffic officials said.
They said that the National Highway remained open for two-way traffic of private cars, passenger Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles for Jammu.
The movement of traffic remained slow due to the narrow carriageway at the mud and landslide-affected Dalwass area of Nashri near the Chenani-Nashri tunnel and the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles at different places.
Officials at Traffic Control Unit (TCU) Ramban late Saturday evening said the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway is open for two-way traffic of LMVs and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles.
