TRAFFIC AWARENESS WEEK | Need to prioritise safety, encourage responsible road use: KU VC

Srinagar, Jan 11: Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Nilofer Khan today said that  there is need to prioritise safety and encourage responsible road use.

She said this in her message on traffic awareness week.  To generate awareness and sensitise the citizenry regarding traffic rules and proper driving behaviour through a series of awareness programmes, the office of the Programme Coordinator, National Service Scheme, Kashmir University in collaboration with the J&K Traffic Police and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Srinagar Thursday inaugurated a weeklong traffic awareness programme at the Sports Complex, Polo Ground, Srinagar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Srinagar City, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah; Regional Transport Officer, Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz; Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Srinagar City, Tariq Ahmad Wani; Deputy Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Srinagar,  Hakim Abdul Aziz attended the flag-off ceremony of the week-long event, scheduled from January 11 to January 17.

During the inaugural function, the participants undertook a pledge to abide by the traffic rules. The pledge was administered by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic), Srinagar City, Tariq Ahmad Wani.

One of the highlights of the event was the launch of a massive signature campaign to generate awareness about the importance of the traffic rules.
