Tourists pay tribute to soldiers
Pampore, Feb 14: To mark the 5th anniversary of the Pulwama attack, scores of tourists on Wednesday visited Lethpora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district to pay tributes to CRPF personnel who lost their lives to a terror attack on this day in 2019.
Since morning, the tourists could be seen visiting the spot where a suicide bomber detonated a car fitted with an explosion on February 14, 2019, leaving 40 CRPF personnel dead.
“I visited here to pay my homage to the brave hearts, who made supreme sacrifices in the line of duty,” said Muhammad Shahanshah, a tourist.
Johnson, a Karela-based tourist, said that he visited the spot to remember and pay tribute to the soldiers killed in 2019.
Dozens of tourists travelling along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway made a pit stop near the site to pay their tributes to the CRPF personnel.
Meanwhile, senior leaders of the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) also visited the site and paid their tributes.
Talking to reporters, J&K BJP Vice President, Sham Lal Sharma said, “Each year BJP pays tributes to the martyrs of the 2019 attack and this year I along with my party workers decided to visit the spot to pay our homage”.
Sharma said that he pays his salute to the soldiers and expresses solidarity with their families.
Sharma said that the BJP had decided to build a Smarak in the memory of the soldiers.
He also announced to donate Rs 1 lakh towards its construction.
