Notably, due to cold conditions, gas geysers are commonly used in Gurez for hot water.

BMO Gurez, Dr Tahira, told Greater Kashmir that she was brought dead to the hospital and that the preliminary cause seems to be cardiac arrest due to gas poisoning.

"We suspect it as a cardiopulmonary arrest due to gas poisoning," Tahira said, adding that her family reported she had been to the washroom where she had collapsed.

The officials said medico legal formalities were being conducted apart from autopsy to determine any other causes for her death.

Notably in February 2021, a Block Development Officer (BDO), Mohammad Saleem Darzi, 48, from Anantnag, died in a similar manner at Tulail Tehsil of the valley.
