Srinagar, Dec 20: National Conference Additional General Secretary and Former Minister Mr Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today exuded confidence that the Omar Abdullah Government will give top priority to place the virgin and unexplored tourist destinations of the Jammu Division.

I hope Jammu will be put on the National Tourism Canvas to attract tourists from across the Country, giving a significant fillip to the local economy and creating opportunities for the promising and enterprising youth to grow,” Sadhotra said.

“Jammu Division has immense tourism potential that is needed to be explored and harnessed optimally for transformation of the region” Sadhotra said while addressing a public meeting at picturesque Panchari. He said that the Chief Minister has reiterated time and again that both the Divisions of Jammu and Kashmir will get equitable opportunities to grow and flourish.

Sadhotra strongly pitched for promoting and developing Panchari Tourism Sector via Lander that can prove to be tourism hub, accruing economic benefits not only to specific local areas but entire Jammu region. He emphasised the avenues of pilgrim, adventure and nature tourism of the region, hoping this will get the attention it deserves.

“These areas, known for their breathtaking landscapes, cultural heritage, and adventure tourism opportunities, are set to be showcased through national and international campaigns,” he added.

Sadhotra said “harnessing Jammu’s rich potential is not just about tourism; it’s about creating livelihoods, boosting local businesses, and fostering the socio-economic growth of the region,” he said while laying emphasis on developing infrastructure and improving connectivity.”

He stressed the need for investing in road connectivity, eco-tourism projects, and hospitality infrastructure. Additionally, efforts should also be made to promote Jammu as a year-round tourist destination, leveraging its unique climate and cultural diversity, he said and laid focus on sustainability and community involvement will also ensure that the region’s natural and cultural heritage remains preserved.

Describing the present dispensation as government of the people, for the people and by the people, Sadhotra said National Conference has a track record of public service and it has withstood test of times in ensuring development, strengthening brotherhood and promoting peace.
