Srinagar, Sep 17: The Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir has launched a series of cleanliness and plantation drives at leading tourist destinations as part of Swachhta Pakhwada 2025, being observed from September16 to 30.

The activities were carried out at Zabarwan Park Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Manasbal and other prominent sites, with enthusiastic participation from tourism stakeholders, local communities and schoolchildren.

Alongside cleanliness efforts, plantation drives, awareness rallies and waste management demonstrations were also held. These initiatives highlighted the importance of environmental sustainability and encouraged people, particularly the youth, to adopt responsible practices in preserving the Valley’s natural beauty.

The Directorate emphasised that the campaign is aligned with the objectives of Sewa Parv, which underscores service to society and preservation of shared heritage. It reiterated its commitment to promoting Kashmir as a clean, green and sustainable tourism destination, while inspiring both visitors and locals to protect the region’s fragile ecosystem.

Expressing gratitude to participants and stakeholders, the Directorate urged citizens to extend the spirit of Swachhta Pakhwada beyond the fortnight, making cleanliness and environmental care a part of daily life.
