Tiranga rallies held across Kashmir ahead of Independence Day
Srinagar, Aug 12: In the lead-up to Independence Day, a wave of patriotism has swept across Kashmir, with Tiranga rallies being organised in almost every corner of Union Territory.
The past few days have witnessed an unprecedented surge in the display of national pride as people, young and old, enthusiastically participated in these rallies, waving the tricolour and singing the national anthem with fervor.
On Monday, the Valley witnessed a significant increase in the number of Tiranga rallies, with scores of them being held in various areas. These rallies were organised by a diverse range of groups, including schools, government departments, Police and other strata of life.
The streets, schools, and government offices across Kashmir were adorned with the national flag, reflecting a sense of unity and national pride that has been growing in J&K.
In Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and other places of the Valley, multiple Tiranga rallies were held, with participants marching through the streets, holding the national flag high.
Schools played a pivotal role in these events, with students from various institutions leading the charge. Teachers and staff members joined in. At several locations, students, dressed in traditional Kashmiri attire, performed cultural programs that highlighted the valley’s rich heritage while celebrating the nation’s 77th Independence Day.
Government departments also took an active role in organising and participating in these rallies. Employees from various departments were seen marching together, holding the tricolor and chanting patriotic slogans.
The rallies often culminated in gatherings where the national anthem was sung in unison, creating an atmosphere of shared patriotism. These events were not limited to urban centers; even remote villages in the Valley saw participation from locals, with people coming together to celebrate the spirit of Independence.
In Anantnag, a large rally was organised by local schools in collaboration with the district administration. Hundreds of students, teachers, and local residents marched through the town, waving the tricolor and singing patriotic songs. Similar scenes were witnessed in Baramulla, Kupwara, and Pulwama, where the rallies drew large crowds, reflecting the widespread enthusiasm for the upcoming Independence Day.
“The overwhelming participation in these Tiranga rallies is a reflection of the people’s desire for peace and progress,” a senior government official said. “It is heartening to see the youth, in particular, embracing the national flag and celebrating Independence with such enthusiasm.”
As Independence Day approaches, the Valley is expected to witness even more such events, culminating in the grand celebrations on August 15. The main function, to be held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar, will see Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha presiding over the event, which is anticipated to draw a large crowd.
Security has been heightened across the region to ensure that the celebrations proceed smoothly, with a special focus on maintaining peace and order during the festivities.
