Srinagar, June 10:  Traffic Police today nabbed the driver of a tipper on Monday for performing a dangerous stunt on his vehicle during night hours on MA Road.

A video that went viral on social media on Sunday showed a driver getting on top of his running vehicle and performing stunts.

The video evoked a sharp reaction from citizens across social media who voiced their concern about the stunt. Many were seen tagging Traffic police in Srinagar and demanding immediate action.

“Such acts bring bad name to all the driver community. This is an irresponsible act and should be dealt with strictness,” a netizen wrote.

Locals took to social media to express their concern about the rising number of vehicle stunts in Srinagar. They said that an example should be set to stop these acts.

“The driver should be punished as per relevant laws. Such drivers endanger the lives of pedestrians and other commuters as well,” said Shahid Ahmad, a commuter.

SSP Traffic Police Srinagar City, Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, said that after a thorough investigation, they located the driver within 24 hours.

“We called the driver, and the vehicle was seized as well. Relevant action was also taken against the driver for the dangerous act. We have also recommended his license for suspension in this regard so that such incidents are not repeated. It is great to see that locals are cooperating and using social media to highlight the issue. We have already said that such issue should be bought in our notice and no leniency will be shown by us when it comes to public safety,” Shah said

Shah also said that drives against stunt driving will be intensified in the coming days, and they will ensure that night drives are carried out, too, so that everything will be kept in check.
