An unforgiving shadow is leaving our loved ones in the tragic saga of decades of unseen tears. Years of dreams are gone with the wind. The eternal echoes are swiping away our dull today’s search for our exciting tomorrow. The time’s cruelty is taking a heartbreaking toll on our families. The time thieves are stealing bittersweet remembrances through our unlived chapters. All it takes for lives to get cut short is just one bad moment.

More Dangerous Than Conflict

In 2017, IndiaSpend carried an analysis of J&K Police and Union Home Ministry data since 2004 and found out 46 percent more people had died in road accidents in Kashmir than in armed violence.

Most of these accidents occurred on the National Highway connecting Kashmir, PirPanjal region, and Chenab Valley.

The analysis found that an accident in J&K had a 64 percent chance of causing death against 36.4 percent for all of India.

J&K also topped the list of high accidental death-prone areas in the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) survey of 2013.
