Three-day ‘home voting’ exercise to start from tomorrow in Srinagar: DEO

Srinagar, May 06: District Election Officer (DEO) Srinagar Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat who is also District Magistrate Srinagar Monday said that three-day home voting exercise will be started across the district from tomorrow.

“As per the guidelines of ECI a new feature home voting has been added this time. This feature is meant for elderly who are 85 plus and those are differently abled. The exercise in this regard will be started from tomorrow and it will remain in place for three days, May 7, 8 & 9. The officials will reach door to door of the applicants whose number is almost 250,” DEO Srinagar said.

Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency which is spread over 18 assembly segments is going for polls on May 13.

District Election Officer (DEO) appealed people to reach nearest polling stations on May 13 to cast their vote. He said there has been an addition of more than 1.25 lac young voters in the constituency whose participation is indispensable for strengthening the roots of democracy in Jammu and Kashmir.
