‘This is not the assembly we want’: Omar Abdullah bats for full statehood
Srinagar, Nov 8: Batting for full statehood, Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said “this is not the assembly we want”.
“This is not the assembly that we want…we want a full-fledged assembly, the one promised by the prime minister,” he said, while speaking on the vote of thanks for the lieutenant governor’s address in the House, which met on Monday for its first session post abrogation of Article 370.
Highlighting the importance of a peaceful atmosphere, Omar Abdullah said “if there is no peace, it becomes impossible to work on other things so it is our responsibility to help in keeping things peaceful”.
On investments, Omar Abdullah said: “…We don't have issues with outside investors. Let them come and invest but we won’t let anyone sell our assets.”
“Some people have a misconception that we are going to sell Gulmarg and Pahalgam [to outsiders]. They should get rid of this idea.”
Refuting reports of rifts between the elected government and the security agencies, Abdullah said “…We are in a Union Territory. We don't have authority on security and to take any decisions on it.
“No differences between police and elected government. I want to assure J&K Police and other security agencies that elected govt will make all efforts to bring situation under control.”
