New Delhi, Jan 20: "The golden age of America begins right now," President Donald Trump declared in his inaugural address as the 47th President of the United States. "From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected. I will very simply put America first."

Donald Trump, in his inaugural address as the 47th President of the United States, began his speech by addressing his "fellow presidents" and other distinguished attendees, including former Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Joe Biden. "The golden age of America begins right now," he declared, promising that the country will "flourish and be respected" under his leadership as a "peacemaker and a unifier."

"From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected," he said. "I will very simply put America first."

Reflecting on the attempt on his life during the campaign, Trump stated that over the past eight years he has been "tested more than any president." He acknowledged that some have "tried to stop our cause" and even attempted to take his freedom "and indeed my life." Yet, he declared that his life was spared "for a reason"—to "make America great again."

Trump projected an image of resilience and determination, asserting that his administration would tackle every crisis with "dignity, power, and strength" while bringing back prosperity "for citizens of every race, religion, colour, and creed." He declared January 20, 2025, as "liberation day," drawing loud applause from the audience gathered in the Capitol Rotunda.

Confident and optimistic about the future, Trump described his return to the presidency as "the start of a thrilling new era of national success." "Sunlight is pouring over the entire world, and America has the chance to seize this opportunity like never before," he said.

Reclaiming Sovereignty and Restoring Safety

Trump laid out his vision for America's resurgence, vowing that "our sovereignty will be reclaimed, our safety will be restored, and the scales of justice will be rebalanced." He pledged to end the "vicious, violent, and unfair weaponization" of the U.S. Justice Department.

"Our top priority will be to create a nation that is proud, prosperous, and free," he stated. Addressing recent natural disasters, Trump acknowledged the devastation caused by a hurricane in North Carolina and the fires in Los Angeles. "Some of the wealthiest and most powerful, some of whom are sitting here right now, don't have a home any longer. That's interesting," he remarked.

Trump criticised the U.S. health system, saying it "doesn't deliver in times of disaster" despite spending "more money than anywhere in the world." He also took aim at the education system, arguing it "teaches our children to be ashamed of themselves." "All of this will change, starting today, and it will change very quickly," he vowed.

Trump asserted that he had been given a mandate to "completely and totally reverse" what he called "a horrible betrayal" by previous administrations. "From this moment on, America's decline is over," he proclaimed.

He announced his first executive order: declaring a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, stating that all illegal entry would "immediately be halted." The government would begin the process of returning millions of "criminal aliens" to their countries of origin. He further outlined plans to reinstate the "Remain in Mexico" policy and deploy additional troops to the border.

Taking on the Cartels

"Today, I will be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations," Trump announced, eliciting loud applause. He cited the "Alien Enemies Act of 1798," promising to unleash the "full and immense power of federal and state law enforcement" to eradicate "foreign gangs on U.S. soil."

Economic Revival: "Drill, Baby, Drill"

Trump turned his attention to economic policy, addressing inflation and rising energy costs. He vowed to direct his cabinet to "defeat" inflation and "rapidly bring down costs and prices." Declaring a national energy emergency, he promised to ramp up oil and gas drilling on American soil.

"America will be a manufacturing nation once again," he said, asserting that the U.S. sits on "the most oil and natural gas of any nation on earth, and we're going to use it." The crowd responded enthusiastically to his signature phrase: "Drill, baby, drill."

A Rich Nation Again

Trump assured Americans that the country would be "a rich nation again" thanks to its natural resources, referring to oil as "liquid gold under our feet." He pledged to revoke the electric vehicle mandate and reinvigorate the auto industry, promising to build automobiles in America "again at a rate that nobody could have dreamt possible just a few years ago."

While many in the audience cheered, former Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Joe Biden remained visibly unmoved.

Trump outlined his trade policy, announcing the establishment of the "External Revenue Service" to collect tariffs and duties from "foreign sources." "The American dream will soon be back and thriving like never before," he said.

He introduced a new government entity, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), and vowed to sign an executive order to end censorship and "bring back free speech to America."

A Colour-Blind and Merit-Based Society

Trump promised to end what he described as the government's efforts to bring race and gender into "every aspect of public and private life." Instead, he vowed to create a "colour-blind and merit-based" society.

"As of today, it will be the official policy of the U.S. government that there are only two genders, male and female," he declared.

Reaching for the Stars

Trump concluded his speech with a call to ambition and national pride. "We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, to plant the stars and stripes on planet Mars," he said.

He also touched on the Panama Canal, calling it a "foolish gift that should have never been made" to Panama. "We didn't give it to China. We're taking it back," he said, drawing cheers from his supporters.

As the speech ended, Trump stood confidently at the podium, basking in the applause; the president left the stage to the soundtrack of his supporters chanting, "USA! USA!" The ceremony ended with prayers and jubilations.
