Thailand-Cambodia border fighting intensifies, more deaths reported

New Delhi, Dec 9: Fresh clashes along the Thailand-Cambodia border have intensified, with new casualties reported on both sides and thousands displaced from their homes.

Cambodia said two more civilians were killed in overnight shelling by Thai forces, raising its death toll to seven. Thailand has reported the death of one soldier as exchanges of fire continue.

Each side has blamed the other for triggering the latest bout of violence, which has shattered a fragile ceasefire brokered by US President Donald Trump in July. Trump had touted the truce as a major diplomatic milestone, and Cambodia even nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize for his role.
