Terrorists open fire at Police Post in Udhampur

Srinagar, July 10: Terrorists Wednesday evening opened fire at Sang Police Post in Basantgarh area of Udhampur following which a manhunt was launched.

“Terrorists fire upon Sanag Police Post from a distance. Our men retaliated,” a senior Police officer said. “No one was injured and terrorists fled from the spot.”

The officer said a manhunt had been launched and reinforcement rushed to the spot.

“Massive combing operation has been launched after terrorists attacked the Sang Police Post around 8 pm,” Police said. “Reinforcements have also been rushed to the spot from nearby posts of security forces.”

In the last week of April, a Village Defence Guard was killed by terrorists in Panara village of Basantgarh in Udhampur district.

The incident occurred when armed forces, accompanied by the VDG Muhammad Shareef, encountered terrorists.

An exchange of fire ensued, resulting in Shareef’s injury and subsequent death.
