Srinagar Sep 10: Two terrorists who were killed in Gudder area of Kulgam have been identified and one among them local from Shopian district of south Kashmir.

Security forces on Monday killed two terrorists in a fierce encounter in the Gudder area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. Police said that the slain terrorist were affiliated with the proscribed terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and one of them has been identified as a local resident of Shopian district.

A top police official said the encounter took place following a specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area. A joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF launched a cordon and search operation early in the morning, which led to a gunfight with the holed-up terrorists.

“Both terrorists have been eliminated in the operation. One of them has been identified as Amir Ahmad Dar, a resident of Daramdora village in Shopian district. He had joined terror  ranks in 2023 and was associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba,” the official said.

The second slain terrorist was identified as Pakistani  national ‘Reham’. Police sources said that Dar had been on the radar of security agencies for several months and was believed to be involved in several terror-related activities, including providing logistical support and executing attacks on security forces and civilians.
