Terrorists involved in Doda attack to be neutralised soon: DIG Patil
Jammu, June 13: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban (DKR) range Shridhar Patil Thursday said that the terrorists involved in twin terror attacks in Doda would soon be neutralised
“The way security forces had completely eliminated terrorism here in this (sub) region in 2007, we, being part of the same force, will again accomplish this mission by neutralising those terrorists who are roaming around,” he said, while responding to media queries about the Gandoh encounter in Doda.
Within hours after a fierce exchange of fire at Chattargala on Tuesday night rendering six security personnel injured, a fresh encounter had erupted between security forces and terrorists at Kota Top in Gandoh, Doda on Wednesday evening.
A police constable was injured in an ongoing exchange of fire in Gandoh.
Patil stated that the teams of security forces, on a specific input about the presence of a group of terrorists, had gone to eliminate them on Wednesday evening.
“Our force is working here with great alacrity. Following their (terrorists’) movement, our teams tried to cordon them from two sides. It was at this point that the hiding terrorists opened fire which was retaliated in equal measure by our forces and thus ensued a heavy exchange of fire. Our teams fought valiantly. Certain things I would not share here yet finally terrorists had to flee. However, I would certainly share that we’re almost on the verge of achieving our objective and we will very soon neutralise them,” Patil said.
In the same vein, he cautioned that police were keenly monitoring the activities of those supporting terrorists or terror related activities in any manner. “Whosoever will try to provoke people, whether through social media or some other means, will be brought to justice. Whether those trying to foment trouble are here or operating from some other place, they will not be spared. We will be after them and finish them. It will be very difficult for them to survive here as we (security forces) enjoy full support of people,” Patil said.
He said that police had released sketches of four terrorists roaming in upper reaches and involved in terror related activities.
“We have announced a cash reward for providing information about these terrorists. Rs 5 lakh will be provided for any information leading to the arrest or elimination of each terrorist,” he said.
