Terrorist killed in Rajouri encounter: IGP Jammu
Rajouri, Nov 17: Security forces Friday killed an unidentified terrorist in an encounter in Behrote Top area of Gabbar village of Budhal in Rajouri district.
The area, where an encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists this afternoon, was still under cordon and searches were going on.
Behrote Top is an area in Gabbar village under Budhal police station jurisdiction in Rajouri district. The village is one of the last villages followed by snow-clad Pir Panjal mountain-ranges.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone Anand Jain, in an official statement, said, “Based on specific information, a joint operation was launched by Rajouri police, army, special forces and CRPF in the general area Behrote top of Police Station Budhal on Friday morning.”
“The terrorist started firing on the operation parties from inside the house as they were moving towards the target house. The exchange of fire continued for some time and during the ensuing operation, one terrorist was killed,” IGP Jammu said.
He informed that the security forces also recovered arms, ammunition and explosives from his (slain terrorist’s) possession. Recoveries included one AK-47 rifle; three AK magazines; two Chinese grenades; seventy AK rounds and one pouch.
IGP Jammu said that a case in FIR No 128/2023 U/S 307, 120 B, 121, 122 IPC; 7/25/27 Arms Act; 13/16/18/23 UAPA Act and 3/4 Explosive Substance Act was registered at Police Station Budhal of district Rajouri.
“The identity of the killed terrorist is being ascertained whereas the area has been kept under cordon and search is going on,” he added.
Meanwhile, local sources said that though the identity of the slain terrorist was yet to be ascertained yet he was suspected to be a foreign terrorist.
