Terrorist killed in Lolab encounter
Kupwara, Nov 6: A foreign terrorist was killed during a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Wednesday.
The officials said that on the basis of specific inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the forests of Lolab, Kupwara, a joint operation was launched by the Army, paramilitary CRPF, and special wing of J&K Police.
The official said that an M4 rifle from the killed terrorist in Bandipora, and an AK series rifle was recovered from the foreign terrorist at Lolab Kupwara.
“The operation has concluded. The recoveries made include one AK rifle, two hand grenades, four AK magazines and other war-like ammunition stores,” Chinar Corps of the Indian Army posted on its X handle.
They said that a terrorist was killed by the security forces in the Bandipora operation.
Notably, the security agencies are on high alert following back-to-back encounters and attacks across Kashmir.
A top official said they had intensified the frisking and set up random checkpoints at random locations across Kashmir.
“Besides setting up checkpoints, we have also intensified the patrolling of troops during the day and night. The timing and locations keep on changing,” the official said.
A top Police officer in north Kashmir said that they had received inputs about the movement of terrorists in various areas and took all security measures to eliminate them.
“All the security agencies are working in coordination and with synergy,” the official said.
Meanwhile, random checkpoints have been set up at different locations of Srinagar following the Khanyar gunfight and grenade blast at Sunday Market that left 12 persons injured.
On Tuesday evening, a foreign terrorist was killed while two security personnel were injured during an encounter between terrorists and security forces in the Kaitson area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
