Terrorist killed as encounter breaks out in north Kashmir's Sopore
Srinagar, Nov 09: A terrorist was killed in an ongoing encounter with police and security forces in the Sopore area of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Saturday, police said.
An official told Greater Kashmir that a joint anti-terrorist operation was launched by police and security forces following a specific input regarding the presence of terrorists in Rampora Sopore area of Baramulla.
"During the search operation, an exchange of fire took place. Further details shall follow," said the official.
Another official said that the operation was jointly carried out by Army's 22RR, SOG Sopore and 179 Bn CRPF. "A terrorist was killed in the ongoing operation," he said.
This is the second gunfight in the area in the past 24 hours. Two militants were killed in a gunfight in Sagipora area yesterday.
