Terrorist killed, 2 security personnel injured in Bandipora encounter
Srinagar, Nov 5: An unidentified terrorist was killed while two security personnel were injured during an encounter in the Kaitson area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
A top official said that the encounter started after a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles, J&K Police, and CRPF in the Kaitson area.
“During the CASO launched in Kaitson woods, terrorists opened fire at the security forces that were quickly responded to. The exchange of fire continued for some time in the forest area,” the official said.
He said around two terrorists were trapped in the encounter of which one was killed.
“Two security personnel including a CRPF personnel and an Army soldier were injured in the gunfight,” the official said.
He said that the second terrorist was still trapped and operation was going on in the forest area.
“There are chances that firing may be stopped for the night but the area will remain under cordon by the security forces,” a top Police officer said.
Meanwhile, the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps said that a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and paramilitary CRPF in the Chuntawadi Kaitsan area of Bandipora based on specific intelligence input regarding the presence of terrorists in the Kaitsan forest area.
“Contact was established and a gunfight ensued,” Chinar Corps-Indian Army wrote on microblogging site X.
