Terrorist associate held in Sopore: Police

Sopore, July 1: Sopore police claims that they have apprehended a terrorist associate along with arms and ammunition and other incriminating materials in Sopore area of Baramulla district on Sunday.

Police in a statement said that on Sunday, at about 19:40 hours, a Police team alongwith 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF established a joint naka at Machipora Bomai.

During naka checking, one white coloured private vehicle (Maruti Swift) bearing registration no JK01AK-4452 coming from Bomai towards Machipora was intercepted and was signaled to stop but the driver of the vehicle tried to flee from the spot and was apprehended tactfully by the alert joint naka party. During the questioning he disclosed his identity as Waheed ul Zahoor  of Hadipora, Rafiabad A/P Mustafabad HMT Srinagar.

During the search, arms, ammunition and other Incriminating material were recovered from the vehicle.

To this effect, case FIR No 37/2024 U/S 16, 18, 23 38 UAP(A) 3, 4, 5 Explosive substances Act , 7/25 Arms Act stands registered in Police Station Bomai Sopore and further investigation has been set into motion. More recoveries are to be expected, the police statement said.
