Terrorist associate apprehended in Lolab: Police

Kupwara, Feb 15: A terrorist associate was apprehended in Gundmacher, Lolab area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, an official said on Thursday.

He said that a joint naka was set up by Kupwara Police, Army (28 RR) and CRPF (162 Bn) at Gundmacher bridge during which suspicious movement of a person carrying a bag was observed.

“The naka party acted swiftly and apprehended the individual. During the search of the confiscated bag, one pistol, one pistol magazine, ten pistol rounds, two hand grenades and a mobile phone (Redmi 11) were recovered by the naka team," he added.

The arrested person has been identified as Rafeeq Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Lalpora Sheikhpora.

A case under FIR number 03/2024 under sections 7/25 A Act, 13,18, 23, 39 ULA (P) has been registered by police and further investigations set into motion.
