Jammu, Nov 26: Director General of Police (DGP) Rashmi Ranjan Swain has asserted that an “overnight successful infiltration through a tunnel and a terrorist attack” does not mean that the adversaries or terrorists were in a position to change the security scenario (in J&K).

“It (terror attack) doesn’t mean that they (terrorists) are in a position to run over the place or majorly change the security scenario as if converting it to some kind of Afghanistan or like that,” he said while speaking to media on the sidelines of his first-ever public darbar in Jammu.

Regarding the prevailing situation, the DGP said that the capability of the adversary to harm was not as it intended to project.

“J&K is a long porous border and the whole system across the border is convoluted thus posing a challenge but the Indian state and its government have the wherewithal, the will, the resoluteness to defeat it and not allow it to become a cause of concern where normal life, business activities and peace and security would be derailed,” he said.

“Stray incidents will also be taken care of. The enemy can only pinprick us but cannot put us down,” Swain said. “Pakistani terror handlers are recruiting poor people in their country for terror activities in this part of our country while they enjoy a lavish life.”
