Srinagar, Nov 23: Chairman Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Pensioners United Front (PUF) Abdul Qayoom Wani who is also the former president Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) on Sunday asked the teachers to justice with their job.

Speaking during a function organised by J&K Teachers Forum in Sogam, Wani said that teaching is a noble profession and the whole teaching community must do justice with it. He said society was facing a major challenge of youth falling prey to substance abuse while rate of unemployment in J&K was also going up.

"But you as national builders have to keep the education sector on the right track. Even after retirement you have to continue serving society through different platforms be it civil society, muhalla committee or other platforms," Wani said. "All of us are getting deviated from our actual role in society. We all see that our forums are divided , our religious leaders are divided, traders are divided. It is all because we are not performing our moral duties selflessly," he said. He said as human beings, we should implement good deeds at our homes and later preach society about their role.

"In education department, we have seen that it is the teacher who gets promoted as ZEO, CEO or Joint Director. But when the same teacher attains a position, he does not feel the pain of other teachers," he said. He said that be it bureaucrats, police officers, officers in civil administration or any politician, all should remember that they have to face the public after retirement.

"After attaining any high position in any sector, we should always remind ourselves that we have to leave the same chair one day, the office will get closed for us and we have  to go back and face the public as an ordinary person," he said.
