Tanvir Sadiq questions BJP's opposition to probe into over-expenditure

Jammu, Mar 20: National Conference (NC) chief spokesperson and legislator, Tanvir Sadiq on Thursday expressed serious concern over BJP’s opposition to probe over-expenditure.

“It has been revealed that crores have been spent without any clarity where the money has gone. We have demanded the formation of a House Committee to investigate the matter, but BJP is opposing it. They must remember that this is peoples’ money – taxpayers’ and states’ fund,” NC leader Tanvir Sadiq told.

He questioned the reluctance of BJP over government’s move to form a House Committee for to investigate the matter, and also refuted allegations of corruption against NC in past. “For years, the BJP accused NC of corruption. They have been in power for the past seven years – if there was anything to investigate, they should have done so,” he said.

The NC leader’s remarks come amid ongoing political debate over transparency and accountability in public expenditures, in the Assembly.
