Tanvir Sadiq meets Union Tourism Minister
New Delhi, Jan 18: In a significant move to promote eco-tourism and improve local living conditions, Tanvir Sadiq, MLA for Zadibal, met with Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to discuss transforming the interior water bodies of Srinagar into eco-friendly tourist villages.
As per the statement, Sadiq presented a Detailed Project Report (DPR) valued at Rs 180 crores, focusing on the development of Mir Behri Dal, Khushalsar, Gilsar, and Ancharsar. The proposal includes sustainable initiatives aimed at upgrading infrastructure, enhancing basic amenities, and promoting community-based tourism. Sadiq highlighted the project’s intent to balance the natural beauty of these areas with the challenges faced by the approximately 30,000-35,000 residents living there.
Following the meeting, Sadiq expressed his gratitude for the Union Minister’s positive response. “I am deeply thankful to the Hon’ble Union Minister for assuring that this project will be prioritized. He has committed to working with the state government and the State Tourism Ministry to provide necessary technical and financial support. His dedication inspires hope for transformative development in these areas,” he stated. “I believe this project will not only uplift local communities but also enhance Jammu and Kashmir’s global reputation as a sustainable tourism destination.”
The initiative aims to preserve the unique ecological and cultural heritage of these iconic water bodies while ensuring that tourism benefits flow directly to local communities. With the Union Government’s support, Sadiq is optimistic about a brighter future for these areas, marking a pivotal moment in their development and recognition.
