Talk on women entrepreneurship held at GDC Ganderbal
Ganderbal, Nov 4: The Women's Development Cell at Ganderbal Degree College on Monday organised ‘An Inspiring Talk on Women Entrepreneurship'.
Syed Mehtab Muneer, owner of Sunny Smiles Bakes and Cakes was the guest speaker. Dr Shabana Aslam, Assistant Professor Botany and Convenor, of the Women’s Development Cell introduced the programme and welcomed the guests.
Principal of the College, Prof Fouzia Fatima in her special address emphasized upon the need for organizing such events to inspire the girl students to channelize their skills in the right direction. She said the college is committed to foster culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students to enable them to become self-reliant.
Syed Mehtab Muneer shared her inspirational journey with the students, introducing herself as one who cherished baking as a hobby since her childhood.
She said along with two other girls, she thought of generating employment through her baking skills. She also reflected upon the difficulties women face in establishing their own business and how she had to prove her mettle to her family and friends before venturing into the field as an entrepreneur. Ms Mehtab underscored the help offered to her by her husband in achieving her goal. She emphasised on risk taking as an important factor for being a successful entrepreneur. A large number of students, both boys and girls, attended the event.
HoDs and faculty members besides all members of the Women’s Development Cell, were also present. The programme formally concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Wasia.
