Tabasum's remote location didn't stop her from achieving entrepreneurial success
Tabasum Jan, an enterprising undergraduate student from the remote village of Pendobal in Kokernag, Anantnag, has set an inspiring example by successfully establishing a dairy farm. Overcoming challenges posed by her remote location, Tabasum has transformed her small initiative into a sustainable business with the help of the Animal Husbandry Department and the support of her family. Starting with a few cows, Tabasum's farm now houses 14 cows, producing an impressive 1.5 quintals of milk daily. She supplies fresh milk to nearby markets, generating a monthly income of around ₹60,000. "This venture wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my parents, especially my father and mother, as well as the assistance from the JKUT government," Tabasum shared. The young entrepreneur employs three local workers who assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the farm, contributing to its success.
