Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy: J&K to face Maharashtra on Nov 26
Srinagar, Nov 21: The Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) on Thursday announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Tournament 2025–26, approving the list based on the recommendations of the Senior Men’s Selection Committee chaired by Sarabjeet Singh.
According to JKCA officials, the team will soon assemble for a preparatory camp ahead of the national T20 competition, with J&K scheduled to play its opening match against Maharashtra on November 26.
As per the order issued by JKCA, top-order batter Qamran Iqbal has been named in the squad, while Shubham Khajuria will lead the side as captain. Kanhaiya Wadhawan has been appointed vice-captain and will also take up wicketkeeping duties.
The squad features a strong blend of experience and youth, with key names like Abdul Samad, Vanshaj Sharma, Vivrant Sharma, Ashwin Murugan, Auqib Nabi and pacer Umran Malik included in the lineup. JKCA has also confirmed that there will be no changes to the support staff for the tournament.
Former J&K skipper Samiullah Beigh, reacting to the squad announcement, praised the balance of the team.
“A very balanced squad with six batters, one wicketkeeper-batsman and six genuine all-rounders. The squad is led by Shubham Khajuria, whom I rate highly as a leader. He has experience as well as performance behind his back and is highly respected in the dressing room. Youngsters like Qamran Iqbal, Vivrant, Musaif, Nasir and Sunil are very exciting and fearless cricketers, they will add to the X-factor Team JKCA is carrying,” Beigh said.
