SURU TO ZANSKAR: DPS Srinagar students explore nature, heritage on Ladakh tour
Srinagar, Jul 16: A group of forty students of Class XII from Delhi Public School, Srinagar, embarked on a six-day educational and adventure tour to Ladakh, exploring the scenic Suru and Zanskar valleys from July 3 to 8.
As per a statement, the trip blended trekking, cultural interactions, and visits to heritage sites like Zangla Palace and Karsha Monastery, offering students a unique mix of learning and exploration.
During the tour students were accompanied by four teachers, Basharat, Abraq, Ummat, and Mudasir, along with two non-teaching staff members, Manoj and Abrar, and five drivers.
The expedition began at the breathtaking Suru Valley in Panikhar, where students were greeted by majestic landscapes, snow-capped peaks, and the serene charm of the Himalayas. It was here that the group first connected deeply with nature, setting the tone for the days ahead.
From Suru, the adventure intensified as the group ascended into the enchanting Zanskar Valley, known for its remote beauty and rich cultural heritage.
It was in this captivating region that the students had the opportunity to explore and learn at several iconic locations like Zangla Palace—a historic fortress offering panoramic views and insight into the regal heritage of Zanskar.
Karsha Monastery—The largest and most revered monastery in the region, where students experienced the spiritual essence of Ladakh.
Sheela Village & Waterfall—A hidden gem where the group immersed themselves in pristine nature, enjoying moments of serenity and play.
Sani Lake—A tranquil oasis surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, providing the perfect setting for reflection and bonding.
Throughout the trip, students engaged in treks, local interactions, and cultural exchanges that not only challenged their physical endurance but also broadened their perspectives.
They returned with hearts full of memories, a deeper appreciation for nature and heritage, and friendships strengthened through shared experiences.
