Sunjwan Attack: Injured army man succumbs
Srinagar, Sep 02: An army man was killed after terrorists attacked the Sunjwan Army Camp in Jammu on Monday, reports said.
Quoting defence sources, news agency NVI reported that the terrorists attacked the army post camp in Sunjwan area of Jammu in which one army man sustained injuries.
“A few gunshots were heard after which there was a lull. It was a standoff attack and it seems that a sniper may have been used,” the defence sources said.
They said the injured soldier was removed to the hospital for treatment, however, he succumbed.
A massive manhunt has been launched in the area especially in the tall buildings to track down the attackers.
“Drones have been pressed into service for aerial surveillance,” defence sources said, adding that the Jammu has been already on high alert in the wake of spate of attacks by terrorists on the army.
The camp in Sunjwan is the largest army camp in the Jammu region.
In the past three years, 43 soldiers were killed in different attacks by terrorists in Reasi, Kathua, Poonch and Doda districts of Jammu province.
