Srinagar, Oct 25: In a major fillip to Roof-Top Solar Plants installation under the premier PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana in Kashmir Division, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MN&RE) has released Central subsidy to the tune of Rs.48.73 lakh in favour of 57 domestic consumers, within a week’s time of the commissioning of their plants by KPDCL Technical Teams.

Central subsidy of another 71 beneficiaries has already been redeemed by MN&RE and shall be released directly into their accounts in DBT mode.

In a press statement issued here today, a KPDCL spokesman stated that the beneficiaries of Central subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Yojana, are also entitled to the additional UT share of subsidy of Rs.9,000/- for capacity ceiling up to 3 kWp solar plants and the same shall be released soon.

The KPDCL spokesman reiterated that the subsidy of those consumers is released in real time whose documentation is complete in all respects on the National PM Surya Ghar Portal.

Urging domestic consumers of Kashmir Division to lap up the scheme which is heavily subsidised up to 60%, the spokesman stated that 1105 consumers have already selected their empanelled vendors and are in various stages of procurement of solar plant equipment and equipment arrivals.  “169 rooftops have so far been installed with capacity of 671.37 kW, indicating installation of higher capacity plants of 4 kWp on an average”.

KPDCL is expecting another round of Central subsidy release to the tune of Rs.61.77 lakh for 72 beneficiaries whose claims stand already redeemed.

The spokesman exuded confidence that with 1105 vendors already booked by consumers, installed capacity is expected to reach 3.5 MWs over the next two months, which shall highly reduce the demand on Grid supply.

Highlighting the need for sustainable renewable energy, the KPDCL spokesman advised the interested consumers to reach out to KPDCL for facilitation in online operations and commissioning of their plants as also filling in their credentials correctly with respect to Consumer Name, ID and bank details.
