Sub-committee of Ladakh leadership holds meeting with MHA officials in Delhi
Kargil, Jan 15: A six member sub- committee of Ladakh leadership today held its second meeting with the top officials of the Ministry of Home affairs (MHA) in New Delhi.
The meeting was held at 11. 30 AM in the North Block and was attended by the Union Joint Home Secretary and incharge J&K and Ladakh besides all the members of the Sub-Committee including three each from Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) and Leh Apex Body (LAD) . From Ladakh administration the Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor Ladakh, Dr Pawan Kotwal , both Chief Executive Councillors of LAHDC Leh and Kargil, beside the Member of Parliament Ladakh attended the meeting.
The sub-committee was represented by the members of Leh Apex boy including Ladakh Buddhist Association’s (LBA) president Thupstan Tsewang, vice president Chhering Dorje and Ladakh Congress president Nawang Rogzin Jora) from Kargil Democratic Alliance members including Qamar Ali Akhoon, Additional General secretary of the Kargil unit of the National Conference, Asgar Ali Karbalai, working president of the Ladakh Congress, and Sajjad Kargili, representative of Islamia School, Kargil.
Sources said that the meeting lasted for about two hours and ended on a positive note. KDA and sub committee member Sajad Hussain Kargili while speaking to Greater Kashmir said that the meeting ended on a productive note with all the important points discussed. “ In the last high power committee (HPC) meeting it was decided that 95 per cent of the jobs would be reserved for the local population and in today’s sub committee meeting the MHA officials said that the rest of the five percent government jobs have to be reserved for domiciles of Ladakh who have resided for a period of 15 years in the UT”.
Kargili said that the MHA officials also assured to examine the demand for a permanent PSC for Ladakh and legislature for Ladakh. He said that it is expected now that the notification for recruitment process will be issued soon before the next meeting which is likely to be held after the budget session in February. Notably, four demands of LAB and KDA on which they have been agitating for quite a long time include statehood, sixth schedule status, a dedicated Public Services Commission (PSC) and two parliamentary seats for Ladakh
