Students infuse enthusiasm to Republic Day celebrations

Srinagar, Jan 26: The school children across Kashmir infused the Republic Day celebrations on Friday with unparalleled enthusiasm, turning school campuses and district headquarters into vibrant showcases of talent.

Right from the dawn on Friday, students from schools across the valley, both male and female, flocked to their respective campuses to participate wholeheartedly in the Republic Day celebrations.

Draped in their casuals, the young students, from primary to upper primary levels were seen standing in queues in their respective schools which added a unique flavor to the Republic Day celebration.

The heads of the schools took center stage, unfurling the National Flag in a symbolic gesture that set the tone for the day.

Meanwhile, high and higher secondary school students took the spotlight in various events held at district headquarters and sub-divisions.

From martial arts displays to soul-stirring cultural performances, the students showcased their diverse talents, captivating the audience and earning well-deserved applause as well.

The focal point of the events was the cultural diversity wherein the students showcased a vibrant array of performances that included Punjabi Bhangra, traditional dances, and various cultural presentations.

The young participants were undeniably the stars of the day, injecting energy and vibrancy into every segment of the celebration.

The school children from government and private schools also displayed their talent by performing on different cultural events and traditional Kashmiri songs at the main function held at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar where Advisor to J&K Lieutenant Governor Rajiv Rai Batnagar unfurled the National Flag.

A school teacher said they were instructed to report to the respective schools with the students and celebrate the Republic Day by hoisting tricolour in the school premises.

"The heads of the schools were asked to report to the Tehsil headquarters for participation in the main function after hoisting the National Flag in the respective schools," a school teacher from Baramulla told Greater Kashmir.

As per the official orders, the heads of the government and private schools in Baramulla were instructed to capture geo-tagged photographs while celebrating Republic Day at their respective institutions and submit them to the concerned authorities as well.

Meanwhile, Chairperson District Development Council (DDC) Baramulla, Safina Beigh who was the chief guest for Republic Day function at District Police Line (DPL) Baramulla, in her address, had a special mention about the new initiatives taken by the district education authorities to bring reforms in the school education sector.

She talked about various initiatives including establishment of teacher informatic centre in Baramulla which is aimed at enhancing the education scenario in the district while the digital studio established in Baramulla is utilised for recording video lectures of subject expert teachers and lecturers which are later made accessible to the students living in far off and remote areas.

"To enhance the literacy rate in Baramulla, the administration has launched an initiative titled Noor under which the education department has reached out to over 1.66 lakh children for their admission in the schools," Beigh in her address said.
