Students explore AI, innovation at Sopore workshop

Sopore, Aug 3: A one-day interactive workshop, ‘A Day in ATAL Tinkering Lab’, was organised at Government Boys Higher Secondary School (GBHSS) Sopore on Saturday, aiming to expose students to emerging technologies and innovative learning practices.

The programme was held under the ATL Adoption Programme with support from Learning Links Foundation and Dell Technologies.

Around 80 students from nearly 15 schools under cluster heads GBHSS Sopore and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Sopore participated in the event along with their escorts.

Officials said the workshop focused on design thinking, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and rapid prototyping, besides introducing students to automation using microcontrollers.

The participants were trained in controlling devices and sensors and given hands-on exposure to 3D designing and model-making.

“The sessions were designed to encourage problem-solving, creativity, and critical thinking among students,” said an official associated with the programme.

Students engaged in practical activities and team-based challenges, showcasing their skills in innovation and technology.

The event received appreciation from participants and educators, who termed it a significant step toward promoting scientific temper among government school students in north Kashmir.

Principal Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Sopore, Mushtaq Sopori, was lauded for his efforts in creating an ecosystem of innovation in the institution.

Special mention was made of ATL In-charge Dawood A H Dar and Musaib Yatoo from Learning Links Foundation and Dell Technologies for their mentorship and support.

According to organisers, the initiative highlights the role of ATAL Tinkering Labs in preparing students for future challenges in science and technology.
