Jammu, Jan 7: Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has revised the authorised strength of the Indian Police Service (IPS) cadre of AGMUT to 532.

Prior to it, the total authorised strength of the IPS cadre of AGMUT was 457.

With this, J&K’s strength vis-a-vis senior duty posts (under the government of J&K) has reached 74 while in case of its twin UT i.e., Ladakh, senior duty posts under the government of Ladakh will be 10 (static).

Department of Personnel and Training of the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has revised the cadre strength through a notification amending the Indian Police Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 of the All India Services Act, 1951 (61 of 1951), read with sub-rules (1) and (2) of rule 4 of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954, the Central Government, in consultation with the Government of AGMUT has made these regulations further to amend the Indian Police Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Regulations, 1955,” it has notified.

As per the Indian Police Service (Fixation of Cadre Strength) Amendment Regulations, 2025, in the Schedule for AGMUT), which will come into force on the date of their publication in the official gazette, i.e., January 3, 2025, senior duty posts under the Government of J&K will be 74.

These posts will include one post of DGP and one posts of DGP Prisons; four posts of ADGP; nine posts of IGPs; 15 posts of DIGs; three posts of Assistant Inspector General of Police; 32 posts of SPs; 3 posts of Commandants of Armed Police; 2 posts of ASP; one post of Director (SSF) and three posts of Commandant, (India Reserve Battalion).

In the case of Ladakh, these posts will include one post of DGP (in the rank of ADGP); one post of IGP; two posts of DIG; three posts each of SP (Level 12) and SP (Level-11).
